LASER PRECISION CUTTING

Introduction to the Technology

DOWNOALD brochure >

Laser precision cutting allows to etch metal without physical contact, minimizing stress and loads on the materials, and hence eliminating any deformation, typical of mecha-nical cutting/etching. The cutting process occurs through a high-intensity laser beam, directed towards the metal at a temperature sufficient to induce localized melting.

The Advantages of Laser Precision Cutting

Chemical Machining Group's laser cutting systems enable us to satisfy extreme requests in terms of delivery timing and design precision/tolerances. Moreover, the small costs and time required for tooling make laser cutting particularly cost-effective, even for small batches and prototypes.

Technical Specifications and Materials

Dimensional tolerances and technical specifications:

  • Thickness range: from 0,05 mm to 0,8 mm
  • Ethcing precision tolerance: ± 0,01 mm (minimum)
  • Ability to do pass-through engraving/cutting up to 30 micron minimum aprture.
  • Maximum surface area: 800x800 mm, with a positional tolerance of 5 micron.
  • System of high-precision cameras for rework of items already processed.

The main materials that can be processed through laser cutting are:

  • Carbon and stainless based steels (Series AISI 300, 400, 11R51, 7C27Mo2)
  • Moyibdenum, Kovar, Titanium, Alluminium, Invar
  • Nikel alloys
